Congratulations to Rickie Fowler - 2010 Rookie of the Year
The staff at GolfGym congratulates Rickie Fowler on being chosen as the 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
Rickie's future is really bright and he is prepared to work very hard to achieve his goals. We can say that because over the past 2 weeks, he has been working at our Academy on his conditioning, flexibility and golf fitness.
Rickie's PGA Tour Coach Chris Noss and Coach Joey D have a decade long friendship having shared the PGA Tour fitness trailer with the players they coached. Rickie just moved to Jupiter, Florida, very close to the Academy. Coach Noss called and asked Joey D if he would work with Rickie to help him get ready for the upcoming PGA Tour season.
Of course, we are very excited to have one of the hottest golfers on the planet training at our facility. Rickie is a really neat young man (I can say it that way considering I could be his grandfather).
On Saturday, he was working with Joey and we had a few new golfers in the facility. One of the guys was warming up on the stationary bike and kept looking over in Rickie's direction. Bill called me over and said, "Man, that young guy looks a lot like Rickie Fowler". I leaned into him and got a huge kick out of saying, "That's because it is Rickie Fowler". You can imagine his expression.
When we heard that Rickie was chosen Rookie of the Year last Sunday, I quickly made a congratulatory poster to hang in the Academy. I even added his picture. On Monday when he came in to workout with Joey, I went up to him and told him how proud we were, congratulated him, and showed him the poster. He jokingly said,"I guess I'm a big deal now". I said, "I think you were a pretty big deal before the poster".
Once again, congratulations to Rickie on his successful season and being chosen Rookie of the year. Look for great things from him in 2011.

It seems like he has been around a lot longer than he has. 2011 has been another good year for him and I am quite sure one day possibly soon he will be lifting a Major.
